FCCB--Spotlight Sunday Feature and Guest Designer

Happy Memorial Day Crafty Friends. What are you doing today? We will be going over to my in-laws house. My sweet and wonderful FIL lost his battle with brain cancer on Thursday...so close to Memorial Day. We will miss this incredible man. Now, Memorial Day has a little different meaning to our family.

So I was so excited that yesterday Fantabulous Cricut Challenge Board did a Spotlight Feature on me (Sunday 27th) because I won a challenge a month ago for "Things that Go." challenge #108. Today, I have a Guest Designer Spot and a card I made for Memorial Day featured.

So, here is the card I created for FCCB that I wanted to share with you. For me, Memorial Day is remembering. Those loved ones we lost, no matter how... for remembering those who have served in the Armed Forces (like my wonderful Ret. Lt. Col. Brother-in-Law) who protect our freedoms and Country.



Details:

The card base is 4.5 x 6.5. I used Ashlynn's Alphabet to cut the paper into the blue star square and the red/creme striped rectangle to cover card base. (sized with my gypsy)

I then typed words commonly used for Memorial Day onto the computer (I had about 20 words) and then just repeated the words all the way down the page. Printed it out (Times Roman and 12 font size)onto white cardstock. I also used the word "Remember" and printed out onto cardstock to ink/punch out later.

I used the star shape from Independence Day and cut with red cardstock at 3" and then the white word printed cardstock at 2.75. Then, inked using Tim Holtz Tea Dye and adhered to the red star.

The eagle is from Car Decals (believe it or not) and I had done that last year and had it sitting in my box of finished dye cuts. So, I think I did that at 3." I cut that 4 different times and pieced it together to get the eagle look I wanted. I cut in cream, grey and gold and brown. I used the tiny negative pieces to piece together the face. One of the things I love about car decals is piecing together the negatives.

I used the Postal red, white, blue Twinery twine. and a silver star brad on the front. Punched out "Remember" with an EK Success punch and inked with the Tea Dye ink.

Hello and thank you for stopping by...Don't you love it when you go to the local scrapbook store and see a paper that's interesting and there is 1 sheet left and you think "Oh, might as well buy it!!" Well that was a year ago and guess what...finally found a need for it LOL

I actually needed a birthday card for a friend turning 50 so having 2 male card challenges and the paper was just the nudge I needed to get creating!!

Details:

This is a 5x7 white card base. Covered it with my special paper. Cut a 2.75 circle from the reverse side of the paper using Lacy Labels . I cut a rectangle from navy core'dination paper from Lacy Labels.

Then, used Car Decals and cut a 3" Grandpa from black and kraft paper. Then recut the details in white for the shirt, red for the tie and "cut around" to make the blue pants.

Sentiment is an EK success stamp, black momento ink and generic Happy Birthday stamp.

Card for 3 challenges: Peachy Keen # 56, Cricut 360 #3, Frosted Designs,

Happy Wednesday Everyone!!

This is a card I made for 3 challenges: Peachy Keen #56 which was based on a sketch. Cricut 360 which is to make a project for Parent's Day and Frosted Designs "Quote That" which was to create a project using a quote.

1) Sketch came first (PKS)
2) Card is made for my Parents for Parent's Day (Cricut 360)
3) Quote is from the Stevie Wonder song (Frosted Designs)



This is the Peachy Keen Sketch I used

Details:
Card size 5 x 6.5 from white cardstock. Red outer mat 4 7/8 x 6.5, turquoise cloud mat 4.5 x 6 & house print mat 4 3/8 x 5 3/4. Corners were rounded with a CM rounder. All printed paper is from American Crafts "Abode" and the solid cream and kraft paper is Recollections from M's. Ribbon is from J's, twine from LSS and yellow button from M's $1 bin. I stitched the twine through the button and the ribbon.

Computer generated quote, printed on printer in Minya Nouvelle font. Then corners were rounded.

Stamps used: Peachy Keen (sun is "snow cuties"), Grandpa( Wide Eyed Kids) Grandma (Princess Faces) Used sakura jelly roll pen for eyes and a magenta water color pencil for the lips.

Carts Used:
Car Decals--Grandma and Grandpa at 2.5. The solid background was cream so I could stamp the face on it. Outline was kraft. I didn't use any of the facial details that cut. I cut the glasses off. Then, I cut the outline again in gray and cut off just the hair for both. I used hide/contour and cut just the clothes in the paper print I wanted. Used brown ink to ink in for the shoes and purse handle. All were glued together and pop dotted.

Sun was cut 3x with Simply Charmed and glued together for thickness and then pop dotted.

Father's Day Card #2/ CWC Color Challenge #32,

Happy Friday Everyone! I finally had a chance to do a little crafty stuff. The kids are officially out of school as of last Friday and they are keeping me busy.

I got a Father's Day card done from my kiddos to my FIL. He LOVES golf. And, this is close to how his living room looks. His most favorite thing to do is have a cup of coffee in his fav. chair and watch golf on a Sunday afternoon with his chocolate lab "Captain" at his feet.

I didn't want to buy the Father's Day cart just because I wanted the recliner, game remote and the TV remote control. (I may regret next year not getting it). So, I creatively improvised!!



DETAILS:

This is a beige 5x7 card.

I found some clip art for a TV, chair and remote that I downloaded, printed off on white cardstock and then traced onto tracing paper for the details. Then traced onto cardstock a couple more times and cut out. I wanted to add some depth by layering it 2 or 3x. And, I wanted the detail shadowing on the chair.

The chair I used brown and black watercolor pencils and brown chalk ink. I probably didn't do the best job, but it will work. This is the reason I don't have copics and stamp cards, I don't have the patience for it LOL (or the extra $).
The picture was some CM sticker print paper I have had FOOOORRREVVVER and I just cut a design out and stuck on a square of brown paper. The wallpaper is also CM sticker paper. The tan paper for the carpet is from Bazzil.

Carts: Table & lamp (both 1.6)--Serenade, Dog (.80)--Paper Pups, Books (1" and cut apart)--Locker Talk, Coffee mug( .50) and Square for Pillow (.45)--Gypsy Wanderings. The word "Golf" is from Nates ABC's (.50). Golfer (1.30)--Car Decals. I just inked the details like the shirt, hat, wheels and golf club.

The face for the golfer is a 3/8" from Peachy Keen--snow cuties. Cardstock colors are: Terra Cotta (for pot), 2 shades of green (plant), 4 shades of brown (lamp and table) Cream (lampshade) Brown (dog & picture) Kraft (for Golfer), Yellow (the word "Golf"), Black for TV

Creative Cutter Room--Father's Day

Happy Valentine's Day! I thought we'd be going out to dinner tonight. It seems my husband over the weekend was having molar pain and sure enough, today found out has to have a root canal. Couldn't have it today since to swollen. So, we'll be taking a rain check on that and eating something nice, romantic and mushy tonight :O LOL He did come home with some roses so that always works....right?

Since I'm homeroom Mom, I'll be going up to my DD school in a bit with my wild man for her Valentine's Party.

Here is a card I did to give to my In-laws yesterday. It is a 5x7 card, I used pink BoBunny paper, and Martha 4x6 paperpad (one paper says "love" and the other has hearts.)

The shoes are from the Sweethearts cart and I think I cut them at 2.75 with expression and gypsy. I did 3 layers on the heart on the shoe, glued together and then ran through the Xyron , did MS red glitter and glossy accents. {I LOVE glossy accents!!} Then gently glued on the high heel when dry. I outlined the man's shoe with a fine point CM brown pen and then did brown ink around the edges. The pink show was edged with pink ink, as were all edges of the papers. The inside message of the card was done at 3.

Oh, almost forgot....if you looked below you saw the golfer I did with car accents. We were going to make it into a Bday card for my FIL. Well, my DD took it upon herself to do the below card all by herself. I was quite proud of her!! :) :) She used country life for the sun/grass. I showed her how to take the read dial size off on the gypsy (the chain link) and size the grass exactly to 6 wide and 4 high. Then we just cut an extra layer again for the darker green behind the sun. The golfer was car decals (see rest of details below) at 2.75 and the golf cart was at 2". Clouds were EDPD and then chalked.

Ok, it's Saturday and we are actually warming up in OK. The snow is sloooowwly melting. After 9 days of being out of school, my dd will be going back on V-day and my little man will go to his 2 days a week on Tues/Wed--YEAH!!!!! (Oh, sorry did I yell that? LOL)

So no card today but thought I'd play a little more with car decals. 4kids4 this is for you since you commented on my car decals V-day card how you thought you might want to buy it. :)

I finally decided I'd try to load on my gypsy and guess what...it won't load! I tried everything, troubleshooted my gypsy, reloaded stuff back on my gypsy, switched the cart, ran my stylus across the bars when trying to load, held the cart in, pulled the cart out a smidge, held the cart and cord up when trying to load. Tried for 2 days and probably 40x. So, I gotta call PC on Monday because I guess a bad cart. I know it's not the gypsy or linking cord because I successfully loaded Serenade, Sentimentals and Heritage today.

So, I had to re-learn how to cut the old fashioned way. Not having a hide/contour just stinks!



All these were cut at 2 3/4. Some I cut 3x to be able to cut out the details I wanted to glue together (again, no gypsy or hide/contour)

My FIL's Bday is tomorrow and DD doesn't like the eyes on the golfer. So, I cut the shift(blackout) on the golfer with a manilla folder for the flesh color. Then, the normal cut in white and black. Then the shift/blackout again in grey (only for hair). I cut just the hair out and glued on top of flesh color. From the neck down the white is the arms and clothes. I cut the head off the white layer so the "flesh" would be the face and did a peachy keen stamp. I took a scrap of blue and glued behind the white for the collar on the shirt. I then took the "normal" black cut and cut off for some pants and glued to the white. Does all that make sense? LOL

Now we have to figure out what to do for the card. Thinking of taking some blue for sky, cutting out clouds and doing the green hilly grass and sun from Country Life.


The eagle was tricky. This was at 2 1/4 and I cut the blackout/shift in grey. Then the normal in cream, gold and brown. Again had to just layer the parts I wanted to. Cream glued to grey, yellow beak and eyeball. Glued the cream surrounding eye part down. Then, glued brown layer.


The flag was at 2 1/4. Blackout/shift was white. I cut the stripe/flag part out in red and blue. The start is cut out so it makes for great extra stars. Glued the red stripes onto the solid white and then took just the blue star and glued down.
