What are you doing today? We will be going over to my in-laws house. My sweet and wonderful FIL lost his battle with brain cancer on Thursday...so close to Memorial Day. We will miss this incredible man. Now, Memorial Day has a little different meaning to our family.<br /><br /><span style="font-style: italic;">So I was so excited that yesterday </span><span style="font-size:130%;"><a style="font-style: italic; font-weight: bold;" href="http://fantabulouscricut.blogspot.com/2012/05/spotlight-sunday_27.html">Fantabulous Cricut Challenge Board</a></span><span style="font-style: italic;"> did a Spotlight Feature on me (Sunday 27th) because I won a challenge a month ago for "Things that Go." challenge #108. Today, I have a Guest Designer Spot and a card I made for Memorial Day featured. </span><br /><sniff sniff=""><br />So, here is the card I created for FCCB that I wanted to share with you. For me, Memorial Day is remembering. Those loved ones we lost, no matter how... for remembering those who have served in the Armed Forces (like my wonderful Ret. Lt. Col. Brother-in-Law) who protect our freedoms and Country.<br /><br /><br /></sniff><br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjvjT3cstbACxZJNYT4NYi7I9So9qqL9qldW2dS8YN0TQGxTx2w42wHowYaodqQPInIdLK2kG3MRIeDvg9LPso-CLMI2OmMjTqC4kvOckdYR8KQwQrTa9J0Oh52NOaAY4rPTfMADVgCR-A/s1600/P1050548.JPG"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; width: 317px; height: 237px; text-align: center; display: block; cursor: pointer;" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5747611094904404386" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjvjT3cstbACxZJNYT4NYi7I9So9qqL9qldW2dS8YN0TQGxTx2w42wHowYaodqQPInIdLK2kG3MRIeDvg9LPso-CLMI2OmMjTqC4kvOckdYR8KQwQrTa9J0Oh52NOaAY4rPTfMADVgCR-A/s200/P1050548.JPG" border="0" /></a><span style="font-weight: bold;">Details:</span><br /><br />The card base is 4.5 x 6.5. I used Ashlynn's Alphabet to cut the paper into the blue star square and the red/creme striped rectangle to cover card base. (sized with my gypsy)<br /><br />I then typed words commonly used for Memorial Day onto the computer (I had about 20 words) and then just repeated the words all the way down the page. Printed it out (Times Roman and 12 font size)onto white cardstock. I also used the word "Remember" and printed out onto cardstock to ink/punch out later.<br /><br />I used the star shape from Independence Day and cut with red cardstock at 3" and then the white word printed cardstock at 2.75. Then, inked using Tim Holtz Tea Dye and adhered to the red star.<br /><br />The eagle is from Car Decals (believe it or not) and I had done that last year and had it sitting in my box of finished dye cuts. So, I think I did that at 3." I cut that 4 different times and pieced it together to get the eagle look I wanted. I cut in cream, grey and gold and brown. I used the tiny negative pieces to piece together the face. One of the things I love about car decals is piecing together the negatives.<br /><br />I used the Postal red, white, blue Twinery twine. and a silver star brad on the front. Punched out "Remember" with an EK Success punch and inked with the Tea Dye ink.<br /><br />Hope you enjoy, thank you for stopping by and enjoy your day! And <span style="font-weight: bold;">thank you</span> to those who have served our Country to preserve our freedoms. We as a family are remembering you "Da" today too.<br /><br /><sniff sniff=""><br /><img src="http://i777.photobucket.com/albums/yy60/LauraJaneDesigns/89bb280d.png" /></sniff>Donya/Okscrappinmamahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13768993124102402271noreply@blogger.com8tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7967977051369683806.post-55996634264225911552012-05-22T20:28:00.004-05:002012-05-22T20:36:31.404-05:00My Creative Time Scrappy Monday LO WinnerHello Crafty Friends. I was going to stay off the computer today just because I'm emotionally drained after telling my kiddos about their Grandfather not being with us much longer from the brain tumor. So sorry I've been away. As much as I've tried the last 2 weeks to think creatively, I cannot right now. We were told 2 weeks ago that my sweet and incredible Father-in- Law might only have a few weeks left with us due to suffering from a terminal brain tumor. This week, we are on borrowed time with him and each moment is precious we can spend with him. Hospice thinks it could be any time.<br /><br />I might not be crafting this week but...I can promise I have one special secret project that I will be sharing with you for Memorial Day. So check back.<br /><br />As a side note...time, family and love is precious and priceless. Take the time to tell those you love special little things you may have been putting off. I am so glad I had the chance to tell my FIL while he was still aware enough to understand..."Thank you....thank you for raising your son the way that you did because he is a wonderful Husband, Father and Man and it is all because he is a reflection of the man my FIL is." <br />Just take that extra time this week to tell someone how they are special to you. <span style="font-weight: bold;">:) </span><br /><br /><img src="http://i777.photobucket.com/albums/yy60/LauraJaneDesigns/89bb280d.png" />Donya/Okscrappinmamahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13768993124102402271noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7967977051369683806.post-88638222290610773942012-05-13T08:54:00.003-05:002012-05-13T18:54:18.408-05:00Happy Mother's DayHello Crafty Friends and I wanted to wish all the Mother's a Happy Day...relax...craft...enjoy the family today. I really like doing scrapbook layouts AND...I need to get caught up on the scrapbooks. This seems the perfect thing to enter for the bumble bee. By 5/6<br /><br style="font-weight: bold;"><span style="font-weight: bold;"><br />Details:</span><br />I actually did a double 12 x 12 LO. Just didn't show the 2nd page because it is the same paper but am attaching the Winners Certificate on the other page.<br /><br />(These are directions for just ONE 12 x 12 page) Using Gypsy and Expression<br /><br />Started out with black 12 x 12 cardstock. then using the rectangle from Ashlynn's Alphabet cut the cute little yellow dot bumble bee paper 6x11.75. Then with yellow cardstock cut(3) 9 x 3.33 rectangles from same cart. The tag is cut at 4.75 x 2.61 from TBBM in the bumble bee paper 4x and then 4x in black so I'd have some thickness for the tag when gluing bee tag on top of black tag. For the tags in the corner, I cut a little off the length because I wanted them shorter.<br /><br />Finally, the wording is from Nates ABC's at 1.1" and grouped/welded together. Cut those 2x times to glue together for some paper thickness. The words that won the spelling bee on the tag in the corner are sticker letters from stickapottomus. I used eyelets on the tags, white organza and a yellow button with black twine in the holes. Twine on the corner tags too.<br /><br /><span style="font-style: italic;">Bee cut from Create a Critter at 2"</span> and the face was hidden so I could stamp a face from Peachy Keen Critter faces in black momento ink.<br /><br />I had so much fun doing this layout--<span style="color: rgb(204, 0, 0); font-weight: bold;">Thanks Emma for the reason to kick me into gear!!</span> I plan on doing more on you challenges.<br /><br />Thanks for letting me share everyone and have a super weekend.<br /><br /><br /><img src="http://i777.photobucket.com/albums/yy60/LauraJaneDesigns/89bb280d.png" />Donya/Okscrappinmamahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13768993124102402271noreply@blogger.com17tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7967977051369683806.post-87750999957309296192012-05-04T20:27:00.007-05:002012-05-04T20:58:22.194-05:00Guys Birthday Card for CTO #61 and Cute Card Thursday #215Hello and thank you for stopping by...Don't you love it when you go to the local scrapbook store and see a paper that's interesting and there is 1 sheet left and you think "Oh, might as well buy it!!" I still have more cards to make for Teacher Appreciation, Mother's Day cards, shop for gift cards, we have dance recital. And, I need to get caught up on the kiddos scrapbooks. When you have a 10 yr old and 4 yr old asking "Where are all those pictures we took the last year at?"...you know it's time to scrap. LOL<br /><br />So, here is Mother's Day card #1. This is a trifold card, welded together using the gypsy with tags and rectangles and "Happy Mother's Day" welded to it.<br />Here is a video from <a href="http://www.craftingwithkatie.com/">Crafting with Katie's</a> blog <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fHyTEAQboYc&list=UUsgeJ_DaTvZB_-ZIpupPKlg&index=5&feature=plcp">(click here for video) </a>and this is how I learned to do it. Once you get the basic shape welded together right, the possibilities are endless.<br /><br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEistrsI_UkP9VAK_AKZbF8-mn6aQOOkHsuftput5dMQN8Md5B1gKqiDuv6ob4X6WqjBrRdttIgjq9kCR2jbQXl_PFmoaKiKHalljgmiLkVng4TI7U_eUbvQ7_Ur8j_n2eXFVJBCCXbl1WY/s1600/P1050536.JPG"><img style="display: block; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 243px; height: 366px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEistrsI_UkP9VAK_AKZbF8-mn6aQOOkHsuftput5dMQN8Md5B1gKqiDuv6ob4X6WqjBrRdttIgjq9kCR2jbQXl_PFmoaKiKHalljgmiLkVng4TI7U_eUbvQ7_Ur8j_n2eXFVJBCCXbl1WY/s200/P1050536.JPG" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5738341254533999714" border="0" /></a><br /><br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi4hb-1b1NtttOJBLK7_7LIYkvGoZ9S0MemPpi7BAi03yNGWI5v-Ee2sXR1LbH4hXlUn6LrK0qBjA-q5q1z9GDT5J5dPo5c-gV2YRM4YP8Z4gUzromcY8IyBaauNo-ZBBrK1oY9Z2dKTds/s1600/P1050537.JPG"><img style="display: block; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 203px; height: 295px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi4hb-1b1NtttOJBLK7_7LIYkvGoZ9S0MemPpi7BAi03yNGWI5v-Ee2sXR1LbH4hXlUn6LrK0qBjA-q5q1z9GDT5J5dPo5c-gV2YRM4YP8Z4gUzromcY8IyBaauNo-ZBBrK1oY9Z2dKTds/s200/P1050537.JPG" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5738341257903970306" border="0" /></a><br /><br style="font-style: italic; font-weight: bold;"><span style="font-style: italic; font-weight: bold;">Challenges Entering:</span><br style="font-weight: bold;"><a style="font-weight: bold;" href="http://www.creativecutterroom.com/2012/05/design-time-thurdsday-mothers-day.html"><br /><span style="color: rgb(102, 102, 204);">Creative Cutter Room</span></a><span style="color: rgb(102, 102, 204); font-weight: bold;">--<span style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0);">Design Time Thursday Mother's Day 5/3 to 5/16</span></span><br style="color: rgb(102, 102, 204); font-weight: bold;"><a style="color: rgb(102, 102, 204); font-weight: bold;" href="http://scrapalicioususa.blogspot.com/2012/04/flower-power.html">Scrapalicious USA</a><span style="color: rgb(102, 102, 204); font-weight: bold;">--<span style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0);">Flower Power 4/25 to 5/8</span></span><br style="color: rgb(102, 102, 204); font-weight: bold;"><div style="text-align: left; color: rgb(102, 102, 204); font-weight: bold;"><a href="http://www.kraftygirls.com/2012/04/dear-mother-challenge-6.html"><span style="color: rgb(102, 102, 204);">Krafty Girls #6 -</span>-</a> <span style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0);">Dear Mother--project for Mother's Day from 4/24 to 5/6</span><br /></div><div style="text-align: left;"><a style="color: rgb(102, 102, 204); font-weight: bold;" href="http://myshericrafts.blogspot.com/2012/04/my-sheri-crafts-challenge-84-april.html">My Sheri Crafts #84</a><span style="color: rgb(102, 102, 204); font-weight: bold;">--<span style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0);">April Showers Bring may Flowers For Mom, Mother's Day</span> <span style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0);">project add flowers. 4/28 to 5/11</span></span><br style="color: rgb(102, 102, 204); font-weight: bold;"></div><a style="color: rgb(102, 102, 204); font-weight: bold;" href="http://craftspotbykimberly.blogspot.com/2012/04/challenge-54-mothers-day.html">My Craft Spot #54</a><span style="color: rgb(102, 102, 204); font-weight: bold;">--<span style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0);">Make a card or project for Mom 4/30 to 5/7</span></span><br style="color: rgb(102, 102, 204); font-weight: bold;"><a style="color: rgb(102, 102, 204); font-weight: bold;" href="http://paperplaytime.blogspot.com/2012/04/ch-73-anything-goes-blog-hop.html">Paper Playtime #73</a><span style="color: rgb(102, 102, 204); font-weight: bold;">--<span style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0);">Anything Goes (my entry #2) 4/30 to 5/5</span></span><br style="color: rgb(102, 102, 204); font-weight: bold;"><a style="color: rgb(102, 102, 204); font-weight: bold;" href="http://morethanfavors.blogspot.com/2012/05/wacky-wednesday-70-mothers-day.html">More Than Favors</a><span style="color: rgb(102, 102, 204); font-weight: bold;">--<span style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0);">Wacky Wed. #70 Mother's Day project 5/2 to 5/15</span></span><br /><a style="color: rgb(102, 102, 204); font-weight: bold;" href="http://heather-bittenbythebug2.blogspot.com/2012/04/bumblebee-or-ladybug-challenge.html">Bitten By The Bug 2</a>-- <span style="font-weight: bold;">Ladybug or Bumble Bee</span><span style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-weight: bold;"> Challenge</span><br style="font-weight: bold;"><br /><span style="font-weight: bold;">Details:</span><br />Card folded up is 4 x 6. Boy, we had some nasty lightening and storms early this morning in the Tulsa area. I woke up like at 3 AM to the electricity going off...on...off. My first thought was UNPLUG the BUGS!! LOL Even though they are on good surge protectors I got up and unplugged it all. Then, I couldn't go back to sleep so l will be going to sleep early tonight.<br /><br />Today I made one of 4 Teacher appreciation cards. This is for my 4 yr old to take to his teachers (he has 2 and I just duplicated the cards.<br /><br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi2TZhzXeknm1bq-fz5TGgDMaWeggfMbWwVH7Xlf73SfDZgvN5fCtzLTi2-zV4skR33v2ps1oTpzVM8a4ukay8qDlq_44BnozYsF7Wds4-QVjH1A_XaUDq30p2V8__iCBRjl6HE8I-YOdk/s1600/P1050519.JPG"><img style="display: block; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 263px; height: 241px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi2TZhzXeknm1bq-fz5TGgDMaWeggfMbWwVH7Xlf73SfDZgvN5fCtzLTi2-zV4skR33v2ps1oTpzVM8a4ukay8qDlq_44BnozYsF7Wds4-QVjH1A_XaUDq30p2V8__iCBRjl6HE8I-YOdk/s200/P1050519.JPG" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5737717917866510642" border="0" /></a><br /><br style="font-weight: bold;"><span style="font-weight: bold;">Details:</span><br /><br />Card base is kraft paper and 5.5 x 5.75. The cute school house paper is 2 sided and from Jillibean Soup. The scallop frame was cut at 4.5 x 3.75 and from Love You a Latte' Lite Cart. You score the cardstock at 4.25 and 6 3/8. Use scoretape and tape the extra square of 4.25 paper so the tops meet. (see tutorial <a href="http://www.splitcoaststampers.com/resources/tutorials/easelcard/">HERE)</a><br /><br />I decorated card with DCWV Black Currant Paper Stack. I just cut some mats for the sentiments to go on in coordinating paper.<br /><br /><span style="font-weight: bold;">Thank you</span> I used the backside of the paper (which is cream)and creatively cuttlebugged with the "Thank You" embossing folder by blocking off the words I didn't want with card stock and then cutting it out. I then used Ranger Inks perfect medium on the embossed "Thanks" and brushed on perfect pearls--pearl powder for a pearly shimmer and subtle effect. In case you didn't know, the perfect medium acts like pigment ink would for embossing powder but the perfect medium is just tacky and clear. It is just like an invisible ink pad.<br /><br /><span style="font-weight: bold;">Congratulations:</span> I used the backside of the paper again and cut a mat and ran through the "Textile" cuttlebug folder. I brushed the Ranger perfect medium & Perfect Pearls onto the embossing. Then matted onto a coordinating paper and stamped congratulations in black Momento ink.<br /><br /><span style="font-weight: bold;">Flowers</span> were cut in various sizes and 5x each : .75, .90, 1, 1.1, 1.2 in the different coordinating papers using cricut Walk in my Garden. I then used a pearl brad as the center of the flower and adhered to base for both cards. <a href="http://www.splitcoaststampers.com/resources/tutorials/easelcard/"></a><span style="display: block;" id="formatbar_Buttons"><span onmouseover="ButtonHoverOn(this);" onmouseout="ButtonHoverOff(this);" onmouseup="" onmousedown="CheckFormatting(event);FormatbarButton('richeditorframe', this, 8);ButtonMouseDown(this);" class="" style="display: block;" id="formatbar_CreateLink" title="Link"><img src="http://www.blogger.com/img/blank.gif" alt="Link" class="gl_link" border="0" /></span></span><br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjNiz5zAsi8hDXpFFuLiLr_nth-rxB9yXd1oBjhzLBYPVeqIbWI-4WA1kNTwo8V1HSoR9ZM4uxLBJn9zZHZZSIdcQHbUyv2Mj-NXbjr4c0DFjoj3w2gUBoVrHOM-WUxwymuivWz0g-BAyg/s1600/P1050504.JPG"><span style="display: block;" id="formatbar_Buttons"><span onmouseover="ButtonHoverOn(this);" onmouseout="ButtonHoverOff(this);" onmouseup="" onmousedown="CheckFormatting(event);FormatbarButton('richeditorframe', this, 8);ButtonMouseDown(this);" class=" down" style="display: block;" id="formatbar_CreateLink" title="Link"><img src="http://www.blogger.com/img/blank.gif" alt="Link" class="gl_link" border="0" /></span></span></a><br />Thank you for looking and I hope you enjoy my blog!<br /><br /><img src="http://i777.photobucket.com/albums/yy60/LauraJaneDesigns/89bb280d.png" />Donya/Okscrappinmamahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13768993124102402271noreply@blogger.com7tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7967977051369683806.post-25093493560876220992012-04-19T09:43:00.004-05:002012-04-20T11:04:22.451-05:00Imagine Happy Birthday CardWoW! Pink check paper from DCWV "Nana's Kitchen". Card was designed with the imagine and the clouds were printed from "Best Friends (scalloped rectangle). The cute hugging rabbit and duck were cut at 4.5" and I cut the layers just to add some dimension and that is from "Enjoy the Season." Tree was cut at 3.5 and from Stretch Your Imagination. Grass was from Create a Critter. Sun was at 1.25 from Simply Charmed.<br /><br />Sentiment was from Studio G from the $1 bin at M's and the ink is black from Momento.<br /><br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjVMTDAzRZjkMpPKPY9slrZT4iOrc2xG9IM2iWPg71YvnlhFKpNp3NrOe6j4EFIBt54AkZNT_wBCdoB8KSXFQVIjkP-cahdYSFyEJmglymx7tQQjUe-JR7_ptyvOQ20PbOWOiHNDvZgTYg/s1600/P1050481.JPG"><img style="display: block; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 360px; height: 255px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjVMTDAzRZjkMpPKPY9slrZT4iOrc2xG9IM2iWPg71YvnlhFKpNp3NrOe6j4EFIBt54AkZNT_wBCdoB8KSXFQVIjkP-cahdYSFyEJmglymx7tQQjUe-JR7_ptyvOQ20PbOWOiHNDvZgTYg/s200/P1050481.JPG" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5732554845430006450" border="0" /></a><br /><br /><br style="font-weight: bold;"><br /><br /><br /><br /><img src="http://i777.photobucket.com/albums/yy60/LauraJaneDesigns/89bb280d.png" />Donya/Okscrappinmamahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13768993124102402271noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7967977051369683806.post-56724588440770868252012-04-12T20:56:00.010-05:002012-05-02T16:01:08.671-05:00How about some pink? I made mine for Emily and this will be given to <a href="http://funkycards.blogspot.com/2012/04/i-feel-love-project-april-2012-cards.html">Madison at Funky Cards </a>for her "Feel the Love Project" <span style="font-weight: bold;">X</span><br /><br />3) <a href="http://celebratetheoccasion.blogspot.com/2012/04/challenge-58.html">Celebrate the Occasion #58</a> Project using pink and "Just Because" <span style="font-weight: bold;">X</span><br /><br /><br /><br /><span style="font-weight: bold;font-size:130%;" >Details</span>:<br /><br />This is a 5x7 premade cream color card base. All the coordinating papers are from Canvas Corp (zebra, then flowers, then stripes, then the cream which is the opposite side and I embossed it)<br />The zebra is 5x7, floral is 4.25 x 5.75, stripe is 4x6, stripe is 3.75 x 5.5 and cream is 3.25 x 4.75<br /><br />I used the Once Upon a Princess Cuttlebug Embossing Folders set (butterflies).<br />The butterflies at the top were cut several times and layered for depth. The top layer I just glued the body down so the wings would "Pop up." I used the Serenade cart and the butterflies are at .90, .75 and .50. I cut from the same paper as the card.<br /><br />Sentiment was cut using an EK Success punch from the zebra paper and stamped in black with Momento ink.<br /><br />Thank you for looking :)<br /><br /><a href="http://pinterest.com/pin/create/button/?url=http%3A%2F%2Fokscrappinmama.blogspot.com%2F&media=http%3A%2F%2F2.bp.blogspot.com%2F-PCL8QP121SI%2FT4eLU2NB_uI%2FAAAAAAAAA20%2Fa6W37VLDwKA%2Fs1600%2FP1050474.JPG&description=Card%20using%20Pink%20and%20Cuttlebug%20embossing" class="pin-it-button" layout="horizontal"><img src="http://assets.pinterest.com/images/PinExt.png" title="Pin It" border="0" /></a><br /><br /><br /><br /><img src="http://i777.photobucket.com/albums/yy60/LauraJaneDesigns/89bb280d.png" />Donya/Okscrappinmamahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13768993124102402271noreply@blogger.com14tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7967977051369683806.post-91652522226093055702012-04-11T20:37:00.009-05:002012-05-02T16:08:18.930-05:00Card for Paper Playtime #71Good Evening Everyone! I rounded the corners with a CM corner rounder. The papers are all coordinating from 3 Bugs in a Rug "April Showers. I used 3 different ones (front and back). I just LOVED the bright Springy/rainbow colors. I thought it appropriate to have an umbrella to also use the rainboot paper. I pop dotted the mats under the umbrella for some depth.<br /><br />The cloud is cut out of another cloud paper I had and then pop dotted. I pop dotted it for some depth. The sun has a face stamped with Peachy Keen stamps Wide Eyed Kids.
