Father's Day Card #1

Happy Monday! Here is my first Father's Day Card. This is a wallet card and my DD saw this and wanted to make one.

Details:
You will want to use so thick cardstock and it can even be textured. Or, you can emboss it with your cuttlebug.

I used a brown cardstock from Bazzil and cut as follows:
Piece #1 at 9 x 3.25
Piece #2 at 8.5 x 3.25
Piece #3 cut 2 pcs at 4 3/16 x 2"
Piece #4 cut 2 pcs at 4 3/16 x 1"


I ran the big pc through my cuttlebug with the mosaic folder, then inked with chalk ink in brown roan. All pieces were inked in brown roan.
**Piece #1 was scored at 4 7/16 AND 4 9/16. You will have a little tiny book "spine."
**Piece #2 was scored at 4.25.

You can also use a corner rounder on Pc #1 and can use a paper piercer and faux stitching.

To assemble the layers: Open up Pc #1, glue only the 3 sides of Pc #2 (leave the long side of the top open--as if you were putting money in the long side), then Pcs #3, one on each side of the fold and glue only 3 sides, (leaving top open to slide stuff behind). Finally, take both pcs off #4 and repeat (leaving top open to slide stuff behind).

NOTE: There will be a little gap down the middle of the center fold.

Lastly, you can type up anything you want to put inside...take a picture of the kids together (which I will do), make "Coupons" or Certificates or cute business cards. And, put his favorite gift card in it.

I cannot take credit for this design, there are many tutorial videos out, can't remember where I saw these directions now.

Flower Gatefold Card

Hello Everyone! I decided to do a gatefold card with some flowers. My DD misses my 12 yr old niece who's in NY. They are like sisters. So, she found this cool paper at the LSS and picked out the stamped sentiments.

I saw this card in one of my magazines and thought I'd try with my Gypsy. Here is the picture from the magazine:

Details:

Card Base is 5x5 (just one piece) cut in cream Bazzil with Gypsy Wanderings. Blue Zebra cut at 5x5 and adhered to the cream base for thickness. Then same shape for card base but sized at 4.25x4.25 and flower from Formal Occasion sized at 3.25 and welded to each side. That was also cut in the same cream. Then, I took each individual flower and cut it 2x in the blue stripe, then 2x in the blue dot to adhere to the flowers. Center of flowers inked in yellow chalk ink and outside edges of flowers inked in turquoise chalk ink, all from MS.

Black Staz-on ink and sentiments from MPS (Pinkalicious and Family & Friends) Inside stamped sentiment is from Emma/Creative Time For Me (Turn that frown upside down). 2" cream circle stamped with Peachy Keen Wide Eyed Kid stamp for inside.

Sorry I haven't been around. Ya know blogger was down and then it always seems the last 2 wks of school there are always so many events going on.

We have had a beautiful and unusual temps for OK this weekend. It wasn't even 70. So, we decided to go to the zoo and thought I'd share a few pics. I figured we'd take advantage of the cool temps to go because it will not be fun in a month when it's 100 degrees. LOL

Hello fellow crafters! I'll be back later with hopefully a project. I'm so excited, I found Lite Twinkle Toes at WM (mispriced) for $15. Of course while I'm walking away, they are immediately changing the price back to $25. Hey, my advantage if someone marked the shelf stickers AND the carts with the wrong price. This will be perfect for my dd's dance recital. Here is a quick pick of her picture day/dress rehearsal.
The costume is navy velvet, cream and accents of gold. I found the perfect paper by My Mind's Eye called "Lush" that is a damask/velvet. Then, found a pretty cream cardstock with a scalloped edge and will use accents of gold paper for the layout.

Happy Monday after Mother's Day

Hello! I hope all of you had a wonderful day on Mother's Day, whether you got to spend it with your children or your mother/grandmother/family or any special "motherly" people in your lives.

I had a relaxing day, kids and hubster made me breakfast, then went to the in-laws for M-day. I'll get to see my Mama next week for a belated day together.

My hubbie got me Birthday Bash and a promise to get me Bump in the Night and Beep beep when WM gets it. My DD got me a Magic Bullet because she thought we could make fun/cold summer treats. My son picked me out a new 2 QT sauce pot since I burned mine up on my stove mishap last month. (long story)

And, the in-laws gave me $100. HMMMM.......wonder what I could spend that on?(carts) LOL Any guesses? LOL Actually, I spent some of already because my DD said "Mom, we're going shopping to Kohl's so I can help you pick out a new bathing suit."
Should I take it that my 9 yr old was embarrassed to be seen with me at the pool???? LOL

I'm going to try to get some more My Pink Stamper Challenges done today, since I only did 4. I'll post the rest later.

MPS Challenge #3

Make something with a Mother's Day Theme

This is a cricutless card, tri-fold shutter card. Paper is from Kaiserkraft.(English Rose Collection)
6 x 12 piece of cardstock, scored at 2, 4, 8, 10. Then measure 1.5" from top and 1.5" from bottom and cut from the 2" to the 8" score at the 1.5 from top/bottom marks. Fold the scores and cut your papers the correct dimensions.

Start with love, faith and support,

make sure each measure is never short.

Fold in laughter and lots of fun,

with hugs and kisses for everyone.

This is a 4 x 5 1/2 card using a label/tag from Lite Lacy Labels at 3". Paper used was blue cardstock, blue print cardstock, 2 kinds of silver paper, brown cardstock & prima flowers. Sentiment from MPS "Family and Friends."

1. I never watched any of those videos included in the cricut box. I just opened the box and "winged it!" My DH gets frustrated with me because I hate reading directions. LOL

2. My DH still really doesn't know how many carts I have and how much I've spent. But yet he still knows he must get me one for those special days...like...Mother's Day LOL

3. I use my Gypsy everyday. Doesn't mean I cut things everyday. I just get an idea and grab it and start using the Gypsy.

4. I'm guilty of keeping a notepad and pen handy in my car to jot down ideas to do on my gypsy. Of course, I don't do this while I'm driving. LOL

5. I have goobered up 2 mats by miscalculating how to size my papers on the mat when using the gypsy and ended up having the cricut cut into my mat where my paper "should've been" LOL

Mother's Day Card

Happy Friday, Happy (almost)Scrappbooking Day and...Happy (early)Mother's Day!

Here is a Mother's Day card my 9 yr old dd wanted to do for her "Mimi (my MIL), she picked out the K & Company paper pad and embellishments and I helped her do this trifold card. My MIL loves birds and flowers so that is why my DD liked the paper.

This is a cricutless card.

Details: 6 x 12 piece of cardstock cut and folded for a trifold shutter card. Papers from
K & Company/Susan Winget "Botanical" .

Teacher Appreciation Card #3

Hey Everyone!

Well, I surprised myself with making this window frame card for my DD's Art Teacher. He is a really creative guy and my daughter loves his class.

Where do I begin trying to explain this card...
Details: It is a 4 x 6 card using a Gypsy Wandering frame. I then duplicated the frame, hid the details, flipped, grouped and welded. I liked this frame because it kinda looked like a piece of notebook paper.

Layer 1 on the Gypsy:

I then used several images from Locker talk: The artist brush, paints and the art picture (flower) I started with the palette and angled it at the top and enlarged the size so it touched at least 3 sides when welded. Then, did the same with the brush, paint and finally the flower. The last thing I did was weld the letter "A" and letter "T" to the "R" (The R was part of the flower and stem)

Then for the other layers on the Gypsy, I copied and pasted all the other details above (so they would be the exact size I needed) and cut in the colors I wanted to glue down on top of the card.

Inside the card:

My dd found a poem that we printed off on the computer. Then, we took some art terms and used Word to repeat them on the page and print off. I took a sponge and different colors of Tim Holtz Distress ink pads to swirl color over the art words. Then just attached everything together.

Teacher Appreciation Card #2

Hey everyone!
So, it got really cold here in OK last night and I had to bring all my herbs and patio tomato plants inside last night. And, it looks like I'm off to the Pediatrician for my son. I've been so much this year I feel like I just need to make a longstanding appt every 2 wks. I'm really hoping and praying that things with the respiratory/ear just clear up because I hate the thought of him being on antibiotics all the time or getting tubes in his ears.

So here is #2 of 4 Teacher Appreciation cards to do. I still have the PE Coach and the Art Teacher.


This is for the terrific music teacher

Details: 5x7 premade white card from M's. I used the computer and Word to type different music terms and then just copied and pasted to repeat for the whole page. Then, printed onto white cardstock. The black paper with the music notes was from DCWV Elementary 4x6 pack.
I used Peachy Keen Stamps Wide Eyed kids stamp for the face. Then inked with pink chalk ink dots on the shirt and shoes, used roan brown inked the edges of the hair and the entire piano. Used white sakura pen on the eyes. Inside the card my DD used her American Girl music note punch and some black paper to do a border, then chalkboard paper from H/L. Final touch was white eyelet and white organza ribbon.

Cart: Playtime Lite for girl on piano at 2.90". The only thing I hate sometimes with the Lites is you can't use hide/contour enough on the Gypsy to do things in the colors you really want.
The main cut/layer was the girl on the stool with the piano. Well, whatever the piano color is, the pants will be the same color. They didn't have a separate cut for just the pants. So, I had to cut that main layer again in blue and cut out the part for the pants.

Then, my DD didn't like the girl with the ponytail. So, I used a different girls head and face and had to size that down to a 2.5 to make it look right.

Teacher Appreciation Card #1

Happy Monday Everyone! Here is the first of 4 Teacher Appreciation cards I must do




This card is my first every Tri-fold shutter card. I followed the directions from Mary at CardzTV's video HERE (sorry guys for not doing my own video but I'm not sure how)

My 9 yr old is giving this to her homeroom teacher too and then we are also giving her this with a gift card attached Directions on my blog are HERE

Details: I used a 12 x 6 piece of cardstock. Then did my scores at 2", 4" 8" and 10. Then did the horizontal cut from 2" to 10 " (1.5 inches from top and 1.5 inches up from bottom)
My hardest part was getting the folds to go right, just gotta be patient and work with it. I messed up 2 others on the folding before getting it right. LOL But, now they are easy peasy!

DCWV 4x6 Elementary School paper pad for all squares and rectangles, chalkboard paper from H/L. Used We R MK Crop-A-Dile to set the eyelets and the apple ribbon was from J's.

Carts Used: Simply Charmed for pencil (cut at 2) and notebook paper(cut at 2) and outlined the lines with thin blue pen.

Busy Week This Week

Hello fellow Crafters and Happy May (WOW! Already)
What a busy week some of us will have with it being Teacher Appreciation Week and Mother's Day AND...National Scrapbooking Day next week. I don't know about you, but I'm hoping that between Mother's Day and NSD, there will be some good bargains on something for all of us to find : )

Ok, is it bad that I bought part of my Mother's Day present? LOL I bought Birthday Bash on ebay for $22. I'm the ebay shopper who sniffs out good deals so that means I do my cart shopping. And, if WM would hurry up and get "Lite Bump in the Night and Beep beep, I have been promised that for M-day too.
